This week, whilst attending a performance development day for mortgage brokers, I experienced JOMO!
JOMO is the new FOMO which is the “Joy of MISSING Out!”.
Instead of living in perpetual fear of missing out, many are embracing a new approach to our always “on tech” lives and tuning out for extended periods. Google and Apple have added features to their mobile devices that help users track their digital use. As 70% of employees say they do not disconnect from work even when they’re on holidays, JOMO really needs promotion.
On Wednesday we heard from the amazing and lovely Samantha Gash who has completed four Desert Marathons – I thought she was going to speak about something I could understand doing – four “DESSERTS” marathon!
Australian Samantha Gash, is the world’s first female and youngest person to complete Racing the Planet’s Four Deserts Grand Slam in one calendar year. A lawyer by trade, she has run over 10,000kms across every continent on the planet and raised $292,000 for charity. She believes in access to education and social change, using her platform to bring awareness to the plight of many through charities such as World Vision, Save the Children and The Royal Flying Doctor Service.
So believe me, I had nothing but JOMO while listening to Sam!
